We created the mobile App that helps fight Covid19 in record time.
Challenge
During the onset of COVID-19 and its high impact on the population, the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya had a mobile app to facilitate the identification of positive cases and prioritize the most urgent ones. Additionally, it provided advice on how to act and enabled tracking. However, as more details about the infection and symptoms emerged and the number of cases increased, it was necessary to rethink the app. That's when we were tasked with creating a completely new version, ready for the new situations according to the evolution of the state of alarm or the state of the pandemic.
To properly manage the evolution of the health pandemic, the first major challenge was to plan the comprehensive development of the project in 3 weeks. The second challenge was to implement it in a short period of time with a 100% remote team. Lastly, reaching an agreement with Apple and Google to activate the application in their markets and make it available to all users.
Solution
The result was the **rethinking of the mobile app (iOS and Android), Stop Covid19 Cat,** with dynamic self-testing and centralization of all information on a server platform from the beginning. Motivated by the urgency of the situation, the project was approached with the formation of a Team-as-a-Service to work remotely.
All areas of the project were developed in parallel, from gathering requirements, usability, prototyping, and implementing the web platform, mobile apps, and testing plan, converging them all towards a single final stage.
During the creative and implementation phases, iteration was necessary due to the day-to-day demands and the urgency of the deadline. The entire team was fully committed.
